We decided
that buying yarn without a project or plan, even if it is wonderful or a
good sale, is not real smart. But then we discussed just how much yarn to
buy when we come across those have to have sales. lol

We talked about finishing one project before starting another. But I
mentioned that i would like to have a couple things going, such as a dish
cloth that is easy to take and do and a larger project by my rocker.

We also talked about the sock class that Joyce plans on teaching in
February.

I don't think we solved the yarn problems of the world. But all four of us
agree that our projects will continue during 2010.

Henrietta
~I wish you enough~Krafters Kornerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09057020998582230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2020022458979242143.post-74188414146623931922009-12-29T23:59:00.000-05:002009-12-30T00:00:45.098-05:00FW: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Overview of Tonight's Chat.Hi Folks:

Just writing to give a short over-view of tonight's chat. Lucy, Carol and
myself called into the chat tonight and we talked for about an hour.

Carol told us about her Pen Friend and the different ways she has come up
with for using it in labeling her yarn and ways to reuse the little
stickies for recording notes. Carol also told us about a neat sounding
Inca loom that she got as a Christmas present. I told a little bit about
my bead loom and how it works. Lucy talked a bit about her beading and
learning about beading through the classes given by Laurie.

We had a bit of a conversation about signing up for the Hairpin Lace class
that will be given next week and signing up for classes on the web site.
By the way, is it normal to be prompted to enter a password on the web
site? I am not prompted for a pswd, but Carol has encountered it.

I got my hairpin lace loom from Herrschners and its not like anything I
ever remember seeing. I'm looking forward to the class. Carol assures me
its not difficult.

While we were talking, a new person called into the chat looking for
information on signing up for the list. I think she told us her name was
Mary. She is interested in taking both knitting & crochet classes. She
has tried getting lessons locally, but is having some trouble getting good
explanations. We directed her to the web site and signing up for the
email list &/or contacting Joyce.

Well that's about it for tonight. Hope I didn't leave anything important
out.

Hope to get to talk with more of you after the new year!

Happy crafting.

EileenKrafters Kornerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09057020998582230588noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2020022458979242143.post-5879432913426052532009-11-03T23:34:00.001-05:002009-11-03T23:36:12.195-05:00New Class PostedA new plastic canvas class has been posted. Fun making soap! December 6, 2 p.m. eastern time

You will need at least one mold, 1 pound of melt-and-pour soap, 1/2 ounce of fragrance oil (safe for skin) and if you like, color or glitter, etc.

Other supplies you will need: 2- or 4-cup Pyrex measuring cup, wooden spoon, cookie sheet and microwave. You may melt the soap in a double boiler if you prefer.
I suggest you purchase your supplies from

instructor: Laurie Porter
email: freespirit1@tds.net
start date: November 21, 2008-6:00 pm CST
number of sessions: 1
sign up deadline: You must sign up in order to take the class as the specific information about the conference call and class recordings will not be posted to the list and blog.
description: The class involves making a choker style necklace with two strands of seed beads and some larger focal beads and then finishing with your choice of clasps.
supplies needed:
1. Seed beads any color in the sizes you desire and will feel comfortable working with, such as size 6 which are the largest seed bead, or subsequent smaller sizes such as 8, 9, 10, or 11. If you are not sure what the sizes feel like, just remember that the corresponding sizes are measured in the number of beads it takes to make an inch. Size 6 seed beads when lined up side by side measures 1 inch. Size 8 seeds require eight beads to make an inch and so on. You should purchase at least 10 grams of seeds.
2. At least ten large focal beads of any style in size 4mm or larger. This is where your artistic flare can work for you. I suggest beads such as faceted round or bicone crystals, gold filled or sterling silver, letter or number, glass (such as dichroic, fire polished, or fuentes), gemstone nuggets or even pearls--the world is your oyster.
3. A clasp size 2.5mm or its equivalent. I suggest using a toggle clasp which has a ring on one end and a bar and ring on the other. Magnetic clasps are good for this project and are easy to fasten.
4. I recommend using the Big Eye beading needles. For those of you unfamiliar with beading needles, the Big Eye needles are easy to thread and require no needle threaders. They look like two pieces of flexible wire attached at both ends that separate and open in the middle. They come in a short and a longer size and either one will work.
5. Bead thread in a neutral color such as Nymo brand size F or any other beading thread in a large size. Power Pro, Fireline, or Spider Wire braided fishing line no smaller than a 10 pound test weight.
If you have any questions please email me. If you would like to purchase your supplies online, http//www.fusionbeads.com will have all that you need with free shipping on any order.
