NEW CLASS: Beginner Beading - Choker Necklace

BEGINNERS BEADING: Choker Necklace instructor: Laurie Porter email: freespirit1@tds.net start date: November 21, 2008-6:00 pm CST number of sessions: 1 sign up deadline: You must sign up in order to take the class as the specific information about the conference call and class recordings will not be posted to the list and blog. description: The class involves making a choker style necklace with two strands of seed beads and some larger focal beads and then finishing with your choice of clasps. supplies needed: 1. Seed beads any color in the sizes you desire and will feel comfortable working with, such as size 6 which are the largest seed bead, or subsequent smaller sizes such as 8, 9, 10, or 11. If you are not sure what the sizes feel like, just remember that the corresponding sizes are measured in the number of beads it takes to make an inch. Size 6 seed beads when lined up side by side measures 1 inch. Size 8 seeds require eight beads to make an inch and so on. You should purchase at least 10 grams of seeds. 2. At least ten large focal beads of any style in size 4mm or larger. This is where your artistic flare can work for you. I suggest beads such as faceted round or bicone crystals, gold filled or sterling silver, letter or number, glass (such as dichroic, fire polished, or fuentes), gemstone nuggets or even pearls--the world is your oyster. 3. A clasp size 2.5mm or its equivalent. I suggest using a toggle clasp which has a ring on one end and a bar and ring on the other. Magnetic clasps are good for this project and are easy to fasten. 4. I recommend using the Big Eye beading needles. For those of you unfamiliar with beading needles, the Big Eye needles are easy to thread and require no needle threaders. They look like two pieces of flexible wire attached at both ends that separate and open in the middle. They come in a short and a longer size and either one will work. 5. Bead thread in a neutral color such as Nymo brand size F or any other beading thread in a large size. Power Pro, Fireline, or Spider Wire braided fishing line no smaller than a 10 pound test weight. If you have any questions please email me. If you would like to purchase your supplies online, http//www.fusionbeads.com will have all that you need with free shipping on any order. ***
